This page gathers tips about getting ROS to compile packages.

Update rosdep

Used to solve a "depends on non-existent package rospy" error.

$ sudo rosdep init
$ rosdep update

Create a new workspace

Used successfully in order to compile code from the RICM 4 team. Creates a new clean repository for ROS compilation.

$ rosws init <new_workspace_folder> /opt/ros/fuerte
$ cd <new_workspace_folder>
$ source setup.bash
$ git clone <ros_repository_from_other_team> <dest_folder>
$ rosws set <dest_folder>
$ rosmake <dest_folder>

Remember to update your ~/.bashrc to automatically source the setup.bash script of your newly created workspace folder.
